The Taft Prospectors Club is governed by a clear set of bylaws and policies to ensure smooth operations and maintain a respectful, responsible prospecting community. All members are expected to familiarize themselves with and adhere to these rules.
Governance at a Glance
Name and Status:
The official name of this organization is Taft Prospectors.
We operate as a non-profit organization.
Objectives:
Enhance recreational mining.
Protect the rights of prospectors under the Mining Law of 1812.
Foster knowledge-sharing among members.
Membership Rules:
Members who do not pay dues by March 1st will be dropped from the membership list.
Membership implies agreement to personal responsibility for safety and adherence to club rules.
Risks and Responsibilities:
Members accept all risks associated with prospecting activities, including potential hazards such as wildlife and open mine shafts.
Guests and domesticated animals accompanying members are also their responsibility.
Key Rules and Guidelines
Claim Use:
Members must carry their membership card and claim map while prospecting. Guests must stay in close proximity to the inviting member.Environmental Stewardship:
Fill holes, pack out all trash, and avoid disturbing flora and fauna.Safety:
Follow all BLM and fire safety regulations, including obtaining permits when necessary.
